Kosher needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
Meet Kosher, a friendly and sweet fellow looking for a home! Kosher has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, otherwise known as FIV. FIV is an immunodeficiency-like virus but is not an automatic death sentence, nor is it transmitted very easily to other cats. Transmission is primarily through deep bite wounds that are the result of cats fighting, typically outdoors, over territory, food, etc. Kosher arrived at the shelter with many battle scars on his little body, most likely from trying to survive in the outdoors and being involved in disputes. This is another example of why we require the majority of adopted cats remain “inside only” as there are many dangers and risks for them outdoors.
FIV is not transmitted to dogs or humans; FIV+ cats can even live with other felines. Kitties with FIV can live long and healthy lives with the proper diet, a loving home and family, and regular veterinary visits; the exact same things we ask for when placing any of our cats in adoptive homes!
Below is a link to an article that talks more about FIV. Please check it out and let us know if you want to discuss our furry friend looking for a family of their own!
