Darcy & Ken – The Inseparable Barbie-and-Ken Dream Team (Now Accepting Their Forever Dreamhouse)

Darcy and Ken are a bonded pair who believe personal space is a myth invented by people who don’t have a Darcy. These two are a matched set: where one goes, the other is already there, and they’ve decided the perfect number of humans in any room is “however many they can sit on at once.”

Darcy is the official Love Bug™ of the shelter. If affection were an Olympic sport, she’d have gold medals dangling from every whisker. She greets you with head boops that could knock you over, climbs straight into your lap (or onto your chest, neck, or keyboard), and purrs so hard her whole body vibrates. Petting? Required by Darcy law. Picking her up? She goes limp with happiness and starts making air biscuits before you even have her fully off the ground. She is basically a living, purring heated neck pillow that occasionally demands chin scratches at 3 a.m.

Ken is the Playtime Ambassador. This boy lives for the chase—wand toys, balls, springs, the stray sock you dropped—he’s on it like it insulted his family. He’s the one who taught half the shelter cats how to wrestle. Petting is great… as long as it doesn’t interrupt a play session. Try to cuddle him mid-zoomie and he’ll give you the most offended side-eye you’ve ever seen on a cat, followed by a dramatic flop and a “fine, but only for thirty seconds” purr. Pick him up during playtime and he turns into a polite but wiggly noodle who’s clearly calculating how fast he can get back to the toy once released.

Together, they’re perfect: Darcy worships Ken, Ken protects Darcy, and both of them agree that humans exist primarily for opening cans, waving toys, and providing warm laps. They’ve happily shared space and playtime with other cats and would be delighted to have more friends—or be your one-and-only dynamic duo.
