Zandi – The One-Year-Old Gray Tabby Who Writes the Rules (and Narrates Them Loudly)

Zandi is a petite, silver-gray classic tabby with beautiful eyes and a tiny, squeaky voice that she uses like a megaphone. This girl is part announcer, part princess, and 100 % convinced that the world runs on Zandi Standard Time.

She’s chatty from the moment you open the door: a rolling series of trills, chirps, and tiny demanding “mow-mow-mow”s that translate roughly to “Hello, yes, pets first, then breakfast, please and thank you.” Try to put the food bowl down before giving her the mandatory head scratches and she will shove her entire face into your hand like a furry bulldozer. Pets are non-negotiable; they are the toll you pay for entry.

With one or two familiar people, Zandi is a confident, tail-up lovebug. Bring in a crowd or new faces and she pulls the disappearing act: poof, under the bed until the coast is clear. Once she decides the party is calm enough, she re-emerges like nothing happened and resumes her commentary.

Picking her up? Still on the “maybe later” list. She’s not scared—she just hasn’t found a compelling reason to leave the ground when there are perfectly good hands at floor level.

We haven’t introduced her to other cats yet (she’s still settling into shelter life), but she watches her neighbors with bright, curious eyes and zero hissing. Her relaxed body language says she’ll likely do great as either your one-and-only chatterbox or with a calm, friendly feline sibling who doesn’t mind the occasional play-by-play of dinner time.

Zandi is searching for a patient, quiet-ish home where her people understand that love sometimes starts with a squeaky demand for chin scratches at 6 a.m. Give her a couple of weeks to adjust, and she’ll reward you with the loudest, happiest purrs and a running narration of your entire day.

If you’ve ever wanted a tiny gray megaphone who pays rent in head boops and dramatic flops, come meet Zandi. She’s already practicing her “welcome home” speech for you.

Visitors to the shelter are by appointment only and after a form has been submitted online:
