Meet James “Quincy” Adams – The Soft-Spoken Orange Gentleman Who Just Needs Time to Write His Own Love Story

Tucked quietly in the back room is a big, dreamy orange-and-white boy with the gentlest face you’ve ever seen. James Quincy Adams is the definition of “still waters run deep.” He doesn’t demand attention; he simply watches the world with huge, thoughtful golden eyes and waits for it to prove itself safe.

He is shy in the sweetest, most polite way: no hissing, no swatting, just a slow retreat to the farthest corner and a perfectly still orange loaf until the coast is clear. When the room is quiet, he creeps out to eat, play very delicately with a stray spring toy, and curl up in the softest blanket like a citrus-colored cloud.

**Current comfort levels (still un-vetted, living in the back):**
- Petting: Not yet; fingers are still classified as “suspicious”
- Picking up: Definitely not; he becomes liquid sunshine and disappears
- Play: Secret but enthusiastic; wand toys brought under the door produce tiny, hopeful pounces
- Other cats: Unknown in a big group, but he’s calm and non-reactive through kennel bars. A confident, gentle feline friend would almost certainly help him bloom faster.

Quincy is searching for the most patient, quiet, adult home imaginable: somewhere with hiding spots, high perches, a predictable routine, and someone who understands that earning an orange boy’s trust is like watching a sunrise; slow, silent, and breathtakingly beautiful once it happens.

One day (maybe weeks, maybe months from now), this shy ghost will choose you. He’ll tiptoe across the bed at 4 a.m., sniff your hand, and finally settle against your side with the deepest, rumbliest purr you’ve ever heard. And you’ll realize you’ve been elected President of his heart forever.

He will be neutered, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV tested, microchipped, and ready for his forever library (aka your quiet home) as soon as vetting is complete.  If you’ve ever wanted to be the safe place an orange velvet angel finally decides is home, Quincy Adams is waiting to slowly, deliberately, completely fall in love with you.

Visitors to the shelter are by appointment only and after a form has been submitted online:
